CWDM has max.18 different wavelength channels and each separated by 20 nm, suitable for short distance transmission.
DWDM(Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexer):
DWDM has max.160 different wavelength channels and each separated by 1.6/0.8/0.4 nm（200GHz/100GHz/50GHz）, suitable for long distance transmission.
Transponders are used to enable optical wavelength conversion when the client rate matches the optical wavelength.
Muxponders are used to multiplex sub-rate clients onto the line interface when the client rate does not match the optical wavelength.
